About Us or rather me..
About Sinkaporeans
First things first, you are not going to read the typical About Us here..
Sinkaporeans is owned by a Sinkaporean and we sell Singapore themed apparel with a twist.
I started my entrepreneurial journey back in 2010 selling MMA T-shirts. More than a decade later...
I'm still selling T-shirts.
Some things never change.
Sinkaporeans currently serves only the Singapore market. Every piece of apparel is digitally printed and fulfilled by our trusted printing partner over at Cottony.sg. (Ehh David... I steady or not? Free advertising! đ)
A little about me...
My first business was THATMMASHOP.com, where I sold apparel and equipment from more than 70 MMA, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brands from around the world.
Along the way, I also designed walkout shirts for professional fighters including:
- Rafael dos Anjos (RDA)
- Thanh Le
- Tommy Hayden
- Pongsiri Mitsatit
...as well as plenty of customers who simply wanted something unique.
Eventually THATMMASHOP closed its doors.
The industry changed. Many of the brands I carried disappeared. That's business for you.
Somewhere along the journey, my best friend and I also created the Got Fight? apparel brand alongside what was then Asia's coolest MMA news site.
We sold a ridiculous amount of Got Fight? apparel.
Eventually he sold the news site and went on to become one of the most influential people in Asian MMA.
As for me... I kept designing T-shirts. Being... well... Me.
Why "Sinkaporeans"?
To be clear... It isn't meant to be condescending.
I'm a born-and-bred Singaporean myself. Pink IC. Red passport.
If you ask me why I chose the name..
Honestly? Because I thought it sounded catchy, I've been using the term "sinkie" for as long as I can remember.
That's it. No deep marketing strategy. No hidden meaning. I just liked it.
So what is Sinkaporeans about?
Originally... the idea was to simply sell T-shirts to Singaporeans with no particular genre or theme, however over the course of 2 years, I sold but 2 caps.
My best friend told me, "It's about the brand, you need to build the brand. Otherwise people will find no reason to buy it even if it's a killer design."
That got me thinking; Anyone can put a design on a T-shirt, but I do not want to just make something that people want to wear, I have to care enough to create something and give it a story before I can expect somebody else to care enough to look at it.
I'm not trying to compete with Shein, Taobao, Temu or Aliexpress.
I'm not trying to compete with existing Singapore retailers with their I â¤ď¸ SG or their Parody logos T-Shirts.
Nor am I trying to compete with Tiktok Shop, Shopee, Lazada or Amazon.
I'm selling apparel that is personal.
Apparel that I spent hours designing late into the night.
Apparel that represents communities.
Apparel that represents what Singapore means to me.
Apparel that when people see it, they either laugh or go "wow!"
Apparel that starts conversations.
That is what I am selling and that is what makes Sinkaporeans distinctively different.
One last thing...
Buying a T-Shirt from Sinkaporeans isn't going to make me rich, the net profit from a T-Shirt isn't even enough for a packet of cigarettes.
T-Shirts are impulse purchases.
If you see something you like, I'd be honoured if you wore one of my designs.
If you don't...
Thank you for stopping by anyway.
I genuinely appreciate the visit.
